On August 1st, UNEP-WCMC (World Centre for Conservation Monitoring of Nature) updated its OECM registration, and the Fumiharu Forest Foundation's "Forest of Kamitoyoi" was added to it.
After being designated as a Nationally Certified Sustainably Managed Natural Sites in the first half of 2025, we had to wait nearly two years, but the site ID has finally been decided.

Going forward, we will leverage the recognition of OECM to further enhance the value of forests through ecotours and educational activities.
Starting next month, with guidance from professors at Rakuno Gakuen University, we will develop a simple method for monitoring the interrelationship between forest management practices and biodiversity in OECM-registered forests, along with the Forest of Sika that was registered in 2023.
