It is located on a hilly topography adjacent to a sandy coast facing the Pacific Ocean and sandwiched between estuary wetlands such as Lake Yudo and Oikamanaito. It is surrounded by agricultural land such as grazing land and pasture, as well as forestry land such as artificial coniferous forests and natural broad-leaved forests. It forms part of a diverse natural environment, being adjacent to the habitat of rare species unique to the location, large birds such as the red-crowned crane, and the migratory site of migratory birds such as white-fronted geese.
